While summer doesn’t officially end until next month, you wouldn’t know that looking at the beer coming through our doors. That’s right fall beers are here! If you are a lover of all those summer brews you better stock up now before Oktoberfests and Squash headed horseman fill up our shelves. However for those of you who love the time of year where the wind starts to chill and the beers begin to darken then we have plenty of just released offerings from your favorite breweries to ease your way into fall.
The classics like Shipyard Pumpkin Head and Sam Adam’s Octoberfest have made their appearances alongside some sure-to-be new favorites. Sierra Nevada has again released a one-time only collaboration Oktoberfest, this year with German brauhaus Miltenberger. This year’s version is a more modern take on the classic Marzen with notes of graham cracker and wheat bread a definite go to for those who are a fan of this harvest-time style. However Sam Adam’s in my opinion has come out with best surprise in fall seasonal brews this year. Deciding to drop their longtime pumpkin flavored offering and release a new “Harvest Hefe”. This is a Hefeweissbier spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. The spices work so well with the clove and banana notes of the Hefeweiss style that I’m sure this beer will stick around in their fall lineup for time to come!
So throw on your board shorts, come on down and cling to the end of summer. Or pull that Flannel out of the closet and embrace the fall brews ahead of us. Either way we will have what you’re thirsty for at your local Grand Wine and Spirits.
