Moscato d’Asti

Asti is an area in the Piedmont region in northern Italy. While mostly known for the bold red wines produced in Piedmont (Barolo and Barbaresco), it also home to this sweet sparkling wine.
These wines are made with the Moscato varietal and have low acidity, low alcohol, and enough residual sugar to make them sweet. Fully sparkling wines are called Asti Spumante while those that are only slightly effervescent are generally called Moscato d’Asti. Both wines feature aromas of fresh peaches, honeysuckle, and apricots.
